Urban Water Management Plan

The Urban Water Management Planning Act of 1983 requires that every urban water supplier update its Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) every five years. IEC prepared an UWMP for the City of Vernon to meet the requirement for 2005. The UWMP was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the UWMP Act and included the following key components:

• Agency coordination
• Determination of Demand Management Measure (DMM) Implementation
• Water Shortage Contingency Plans
• Recycled Water Plan
• Water Quality Impacts on Reliability
• Water Service Reliability
• Preparation of the UWMP
• Adoption of the UWMP

The UWMP was adopted by the Vernon City Council by Resolution on December 7, 2005 and filed with the California Department of Water Resources prior to the December 31, 2005 deadline for submittal.

IEC helped the City of Vernon meet its project schedule of completion of the UWMP within 2 months of a notice to proceed.

Project Accomplishments

• Met the City’s project schedule of 2 months

• Met the State DWRs delivery deadline of December 31, 2005

• The UWMP was adopted by City Council on December 7, 2005
